PALL needs to fill several positions on the Board of Directors for the upcoming 2011 season. There will be a community meeting on Wednesday September 1st at 7:00 at the Pacifica Community Center to give information about the positions that must be filled in order to have a successful 2011 season. The positions that need to be filled are:
President, Vice-President, Player Agent, and Field Manager.
Vinnie Venturi pitched a gem going five and two-thirds innings against a very tough competitor in Menlo Atherton. Ray Lopez handled most of the catching duties again with a great job behind the dish. MA leadoff hitter got on with an error to start the game. The two hitter hit a fielders choice to Joey Pledger getting one at second base. The three hitter singled and the next hitter got on on an error scoring one before Venturi got the final out on a pop out to Anthony Miglio at first. PALL leadoff hitter Pledger hit a shot to third who made a nice play just getting him at first. Anthony Gordon continued his hot streak with a full count single to right. Venturi singled himself to start the threat. Marcel Larrarte hit a smash to third forcing Gordon at third and just getting Larrarte at first. MA got their lead-off hitter on with an infield error in the second. Venturi got the next batter to ground to first and then a comebacker for two outs. The last batter lined to Shores who made it look easy in right. Pledger lined to the fence for the second out and Gordon walked but PALL went down quietly in the third. In the fourth MA fifth hitter grounded to Pledger for one out. Then a shot to Braslaw for the second out. With a single and a passed ball MA pinch hit a double to right center. Yaish got the ball in quickly but MA scored one. Venturi struck out the next batter to keep it at two to zero. MA's third pitcher got PALL in the fourth but not before Miglio had a great 10 pitch battle in the inning. MA ended up using six pitchers in the game. Venturi got the first hitter in the fifth with another great play by Braslaw at third. He struck out the next batter and got the final out on a grounder to Miglio who tossed to Venturi covering first. PALL went quietly in the fifth facing MA's fifth pitcher, their ace. Venturi countered with a grounder to Gordon, a grounder to Pledger. Larrarte came in and struck out the final batter in the sixth. PALL entered the sixth down two with Pledger at the plate. Joey lined a double to the fence in right center bringing up Gordon. Anthony worked the count to three one and took a second pitch most were happy was called a strike. He promptly doubled to right scoring Pledger. Gordon went to third on a passed ball and Larrarte singled him in tying the game. MA got the next two batters taking the game into extra innings. MA came back in the seventh and scored four off Larrarte and Pledger who challenged the tough MA hitters. PALL fought to the very end and had a great tournament, all twelve players should be proud of how they represented PALL. All Star Update: 12's win again!
The PALL 12 year old all star team avoided elimination again on Tuesday night, defeating San Mateo National by a final score of 6-0. Anthony Gordon was sensational on the mound, throwing a complete game two hit shutout while striking out 7 batters on only 67 pitches. Offensively PALL got off to a quick start scoring four times in the first inning. Joey Pledger was hit by a pitch to lead off the game and Gordon and Vinnie Venturi followed with singles to load the bases. Marcel Larrarte singled home Pledger and Gordon and two straight fantastic at bats by Anthony Miglio and Jacob Braslaw resulted in a RBI fly ball and RBI groundout. PALL was able to add two insurance runs in the fifth inning when Mikey Luhrs clutch two out single scores Gordon and Braslaw. PALL played phenomenal defense the entire game. Josh Leal, Johnny Kennedy, Charlie Yaish, Ray Lopez, and Tyler Shores led the PALL defense. PALL will next play on Wednesday 7/7 5:30 @ PALL Field vs. Menlo Atherton. Come out and cheer on PALL!
All Star Update: 10's move on, 11's eliminated
10 Year Olds: The PALL 10 year old team moved on to the semifinals with an impressive 8-3 victory over Foster City! Brett Karalius picked up the win, bouncing back from a tough first inning to throw 4 2/3 of great baseball. Nate Gordon picked up his second straight save by getting out of a jam in the fifth inning and pitching a 1-2-3 6th to close the game out. Danny Mack and Sean Snead had multiple hit games while Andrew Roy, Ryan Netzer, Chris Miglio, Karalius, and Marcus Johnson, all had hits. Fantastic defense was played by Brian Barnes, Anthony Roberts, Diani Shanahan, and Mario Fare. The 10 year olds will next play Friday 7/9 vs. Hillsborough at 5:00 at the Belmont Sports Complex. Winner advances to the championship game! Please come out and support our 10 year old team!
11 Year Olds: The Pacifica American 11 year old All-Star team saw their Tournament hopes end Friday night with a 7-0 defeat dealt by Palo Alto National. PALL faced a buzzsaw in righthander Alec Olmstead who tossed a 3 hitter, struck out 8 and also hit a 2 run homer. The 3 hits by Pacifica were singles by Jeremy Watts, Mason Stelfox and Jared Milch. The other Pacifica highlight was by Steven Peterson who came in relief with runners at the corners and 2 outs in the 5th inning. Peterson got out of the jam in 1 pitch, inducing a harmless popout to shortstop. Pacifica ended up with a 2-2 record in the 14 team Tournament making it to the final 8 (same results as last year). Special thanks to manager Kenny Milch and coach Chris Peterson for all of the time put in to coaching our 11 year old team!
All Star Update
12 Year Olds: The PALL 12 year old team avoided elimination Thursday nght by knocking off their cross town rivals Pacifica National by a final score of 9-2. Vinnie Venturi and Anthony Gordon pitched 3 innings apiece to limit the dangerous PNLL bats. PALL fell behind 1-0 but evened the score in the second inning on a RBI single from Mikey Luhrs that scored Jacob Braslaw who had doubled earlier in the inning. PALL broke the game open in the fourth inning scoring 4 runs to make the score 7-2. Ray Lopez got things started by laying down a beautiful bunt. Josh Leal followed by lining a ball up the middle for a hit. Lopez scored on Joey Pledgers single and Anthony Gordon followed with a double in to the right center field gap to score Leal. Three consecutive hits by Venturi, Marcel Larrarte, and Anthony Miglio plated the final two runs. In the top of the sixth inning PALL scored their final two runs as Pledger singled for his third hit of the game and Gordon followed with a majestic home run to right center field that cleared both fences at Ortega School. PALL's 12 year old all star team will next play Tuesday night 7/6 at 5:30 versus San Mateo National at Ortega 1.
11 Year Olds:
The 10-11 year old Pacifica American All-Stars won their 2nd game in a row
with an 8-4 victory over the Highlanders. Kobe Christo had 3 hits, 2 rbi's
and 2 runs scored. Willie Brazil had 2 hits and an rbi and Dalton Abeyta
also collected 2 hits. Jeremy Watts had a single and 3 rbi's. Jared Milch
had a single, rbi and scored 3 runs. Mason Stelfox and Johnny Weber both
singled and scored a run each. Nathan Rumb picked up another rbi and scored
a run. Steven Peterson walked twice and made some solid defensive plays at
2nd base. Adrian Bradley also played well defensively for Rumb who pitched
5 innings striking out 7 and Abeyta finished by pitching a scoreless 6th
inning with 2 k's. Pacifica next plays Friday July 2nd at 5:30pm v Palo
Alto National @ San Mateo National LL field.

The PALL 12 year old all star team lost their opening game to Menlo/Atherton Little League by a final score of 6-2. Anthony Gordon pitched valiantly in defeat going 5 innings and giving up only one earned run on 4 hits while striking out 9 batters. The PALL bats were stagnant but Anthony Miglio had a big base hit to score two runs while Marcel Larrarte and Joey Pledger each picked up two hits apiece. In their second game PALL overwhelmed Highlanders Little League winning by a score of 10-0. Vinnie Venturi and Joey Pledger combined to throw a no hitter with Venturi striking out 8 batters in three innings of work. The PALL bats were on fire led by Anthony Gordon's double, home run and 3 RBI's. PALL next plays on 7/1 at 5:30 at Ortega 1.
11 Year Olds:
The PALL 11 year old all star team lost a heartbreaker by a score of 12-10 in 7 innings to Alpine/West Menlo in their first game. The offense was led by Nate Rumb who homered twice and had 5 RBI's. PALL bounced back in the second game defeating Redwood City American by score of 6-2. Kobe Christo and Dalton Abeyta combined to limit Redwood City to only two runs with the help of some fantastic defense by shortstop Jared Milch. Milch made two fantastic defensive plays to end Redwood City rallies! Johnny Weber also made a fine running ctatch in left field. Charlie Armenta came through with a big two RBI single to help PALL put the game away. PALL's 11 year old team next plays on Thursday 7/1 at 5:30 at San Mateo National Little League.
10 Year Olds:
The PALL 10 year old all star team has won their first two games defeating San Mateo American and Redwood City Redwood City National. In the opening game PALL jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead taking advantage of some wildness and poor defense by San Mateo American. Brett Karalius pitched 4 strong innings but San Mateo chipped away and got within one run in the fourth. Danny Mack and Nate Gordon helped close the game out and held San Mateo to 1 run for the rest of the way as PALL went on to a 13-8 victory. In the second game PALL faced off against a very good Redwood City National team. Danny Mack was fantastic on the mound for PALL pitching 4 2/3 innings limiting the dangerous Redwood City National team to only 3 runs. Mack was helped by some fantastic defense from third baseman Mario Fare, shortstop Nate Gordon, and first baseman Sean Snead. He was also helped by two fantastic catches in the outfield from Ryan Netzer and Anthony Roberts. Offensively Mack belted his first career home run to give PALL an early 2-0 lead. Gordon came through with a big two out hit in the fifth inning to put PALL up 4-3 and a great at bat by Anthony Roberts resulted in a bases loaded walk to score PALL's final run. Gordon came on to pitch with two outs in the fifth and got PALL out of a jam with a hard ground ball that Fare snared at third base. He then pitched a 1-2-3 sixth inning with Andrew Roy making a fine catch in right field for the final out. Pall's 10 year old team next plays on Friday 7/2 at 5:00 against Foster City at the Belmont Sports Complex.
